Job Description
Summary/Objective
The Agronomic Operations and Sales Technician will be heavily involved with operational duties at the facility while also providing sales opportunities. This position may be responsible for mixing and loading pesticides and fertilizers to fields at approved applicable rates. The position must maintain accurate application records and communicate with customers. The Agronomic Operations and Sales Technician will assist the Plant Manager with providing agronomic support, education, and sales management within the designated area.
The Agronomic Operations and Sales Technician will report to the Oakford Plant Manager. This position will work with the Oakford customer base and is a potential leadership opportunity for growth into other positions.
Essential Functions
- Operate and maintain all equipment and vehicles
- Mix, load and apply pesticides and fertilizers
- Apply pesticides and fertilizers at applicable rates to the appropriate fields
- Handle and deliver bulk and packaged chemicals
- Perform daily vehicle inspections
- Provide agronomic support to local customers
- Calls on regular or prospective customers to generate new business
- Knowledge of the retail agronomy industry
- Answers questions concerning products
- Builds and develops long-term relationships with customers, peers and suppliers
- Provide problem solving and understanding of customer needs to reach customers’ goals and expectations
- Ability to analyze and investigate then resolve customer issues
- Knowledgeable of seed, chemical and fertilizer to make informed decisions

Work Environment
The Agronomic Operations and Sales Technician will work at the Oakford Agronomic Services facility. This position may be working in cold or hot weather.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full time position and is non-exempt. Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday but seasonal overtime is required.

Required Education and Experience
- 2 years of agronomic experience required.
- Certified Crop Advisor designation preferred.
- Intermediate computer and software skills required.
- CDL is required. Hazmat endorsement preferred.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Ability to be on feet 8 hours a day.

Pay Range: $60,000 - $70,000 per year
