Summary/Objective
The Agronomic Services Summer Intern will support the BRANDT Agronomic Services, LLC team in various functions including scouting fields, plot maintenance, assisting with field days, and other summer tasks. This internship will involve a different task every day that gives an overview of all Agronomic Services does for its employees and customers. The internship will have diverse experiences in agriculture.
The Agronomic Services Summer Intern will report to the Technical Agronomist of BRANDT Agronomic Services and work closely with the Managers and Sales Team of assigned BRANDT Retail locations and marketing department. This position may take direction and guidance from other team members throughout the internship.
Primary locations covered by the intern will be Ashland, New Berlin, Franklin, Waverly, Auburn, Raymond, Oakford, Greenview, Williamsville, Lincoln, Niantic, and Mt. Auburn. This position will need to have the ability to report to the Springfield, IL main office location. Secondary coverage will be Gridley, Fairbury, Lexington, Cooksville, and Cropsey. Additional coverage will be provided to independent BRANDT partners as needed in a similar footprint.
Essential Functions
- Take tissue tests for the BRANDT high yield program and for customers as needed.
- Assist with planting and upkeep of BRANDT Community Trials and other agronomy trials.
- Help place signs around the BRANDT trade area in plots or road frontage.
- Assist with setting up field days and customer events.
- Spend 1 weekend during the summer with the BRANDT marketing team assisting at a race event.
- Assist our technical agronomy team with ongoing Precision Ag projects.
- Document field issues in crop monitoring tools to share with customers.
- Assist with seed returns if needed.
- Report on field observations to BRANDT marketing for social media content.
- Work on a special project over the summer and present it to our management team at the end of the internship.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Work Environment
This position will primarily be in the field, but some office professional setting may be necessary. With the diversity of work in Agronomic Services, this individual will need the ability to dress accordingly.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is an internship and is non-exempt, it will follow federal and all applicable state or local laws. Days and hours of work are generally 8:00am to 5:00pm, with some extended hours needed as seasonal and job duties demands may vary.
Travel
This position may require travel between Retail locations within Illinois.
Required Education and Experience
- Working towards 4-year degree in agronomy or agriculture related field.
- Intermediate computer and software skills required.
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers record. CDL a plus but not required.
- Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
- Must be able to work outdoors.
- Current Junior/Senior in college preferred.
