Summary/Objective

The Assistant Manager is mainly responsible for assisting the location manager in daily operations and sales.   This position will be involved with seed, fertilizer, and chemical handling at the facility while also providing Sales opportunities. The position will work closely with all employees at the location or assigned to the area including sales and field advisor. The Assistant Manager will assist the Plant Manager with providing agronomic support, education, and sales management within the designated area. 

The Assistant Manager will report to the Fairbury Plant Manager.  This position will work with the Fairbury customer base and is a potential opportunity for growth into other positions.

 

Essential Functions

  • Scout fields as directed
  • Use online systems to order products
  • Provide agronomic support to local customers
  • Provide agronomic advice to customers and staff.
  • Knowledge of the retail agronomy industry
  • Answers questions concerning products
  • Mix and load pesticides and fertilizers
  • Builds and develops long-term relationships with customers, peers and suppliers
  • Provide problem solving and understanding of customer needs to reach customers’ goals and expectations

Work Environment

The Assistant Manager will work at the Fairbury Agronomic Services facility. This position may be working in cold or hot weather.

 

Classification/Expected Hours of Employment

This position is a full time position and is exempt.  Days and hours of work are generally Monday through Friday but seasonal overtime is required.  

 

Travel

Not applicable to this position.

 

Required Education and Experience

  • 2 years of agronomic experience required.
  • Intermediate computer and software skills required.
  • CDL & Hazmat certification or willingness to complete within 60 days of employment.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required.
  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to be on feet 8 hours a day.
