Summary/Objective
The Seed Treatment Scientist will work closely with BRANDT Discovery and Innovation, LLC. and BRANDT to assist in formulation, develop and test dry powder seed fluency agents and seed treatments.
The Seed Treatment Scientist will report to the National Director of Labs for BRANDT Discovery and Innovation and will work closely with the BRANDT Discovery and Innovation Technical Agronomist Team.
Essential Functions
- Run the Seed Treatment Lab
- Provide QC for production of Seed Treatments
- Oversee and develop new inputs for seed treatment blends.
- Setup and Manage a Seed Treatment Testing Lab
- Germination, early vigor, etc.
- Planter Box Testing Includes
- Flow Testing, Static Charge Testing, Density Testing, Cohesion Properties, Seed Flow Meters, Particle Size and Adsorption/Dust Off properties to seeds
- Have and develop strong knowledge of dry powder seed treatment activities including:
- Fluency, Anti-Static Compounds, Desiccants, Microbials, Biostimulants, PGRS, Fertilizers, etc.
- Provide technical knowledge related to BRANDT / Talc USA seed treatment products related to customers, growers, and sales team.
- Assist BRANDT / Talc USA sales team with technical support.
- Lead presentations at agricultural trade meetings for distributors and customers explaining new and existing products.
- Have knowledge of key crops, pests, environmental conditions, and production practices that impact use of BRANDT / Talc USA product line.
- Write technical agronomic publications related to BRANDT/ Talc USA product lines.

This position may require up to 10 to 20% travel to sales, training and customer meeting locations.
Required Education and Experience
- MS in agricultural or science related field with 2 to 5 years of relevant research experience or 10 years’ experience with a BS in agriculture or a science based field.
- Strong lab skills with the ability to use and maintain analytical instruments and software utilized in dry powder testing.
- Strong agriculture background in Corn, Cotton, Peanuts, Soybeans and Wheat is preferred.
- Familiarity with basic aspects of seed treatments and coatings.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated, independent self-starter with results and solution orientation.
- Existing contacts within the dealer network would be an asset.
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers record.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $100,000 per year
