Job Description
Summary/Objective
Reporting to the Plant Manager, the Shipping and Receiving Supervisor is responsible for ensuring the efficient and professional operation of all transportation warehouse staff in a manner consistent with company policies and procedures. Also responsible for all warehouse operations that include, but is not limited to, unloading, loading, inventory accuracy and cleanliness/organization of the warehouse.
Essential Functions
Manage and train all transportation warehouse staff in all aspects of their job responsibilities to provide development of the team.
- Daily duties include overseeing loading and unloading and of all freight.
- Communicates on a daily basis to ensure proper loading, making sure that accurate freight information is relayed.
- Controls warehouse organization and inventory levels by working in conjunction with the Plant Manager, conducting physical counts and reconciles with warehouse management system of all products stored/warehoused.
- Ensure all mechanical maintenance and equipment issues are addressed.
- Address any breakdowns or damages to trailer equipment immediately including trucks, forklifts, and pallet jacks.
- Ensure cleanliness of the warehouse and surrounding areas outside.
- Performing any and all assigned tasks to ensure continuity of production and safety of all personnel.
- Complying with Environmental, Health and Safety rules and regulations
- Any other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Forklift Certification and/or forklift experience is required.
- State driver’s license with safe DMV driving record to operate company vehicles.
- Experience with scanner driven real-time inventory system.

- Intermediate knowledge in Microsoft Office products (Outlook, Word, Excel)
- Capability to prioritize and plan efficiently and effectively.

Supervisory Responsibility
- Responsible for directly supervising logistics staff, which may include truck drivers, forklift operators, and logistics coordinators.
- Interview and hire logistics staff.
- Mentor and train personnel in all aspects of the role and advise any changes or issues regarding policies or procedures.
- Develop employee work schedules; Manage personnel requests for time off by approving or denying vacation/sick or unpaid time off.
- Write and discuss yearly performance reviews and handle disciplinary issues within the department.
- Conduct department meetings.
Work Environment
The physical environment requires the employee to work in an office and a warehouse environment. Experiences heat and cold conditions. Frequently required to use personal protective equipment to prevent exposure to hazards. May be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full-time position that is exempt.
Education and Experience
Must have a high school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree preferred. Previous supervisor experience preferred.
