Summary/Objective
The Technical Agronomist (TA) will provide agronomic support and research. A key function will provide technical support to BRANDT sales teams and distribution partners, managing and developing research protocols as well as establishing a network with research groups, universities, and consultants. Strong agriculture background in tree crops, and vines is preferred.
The Technical Agronomist will report to the Vice President of BRANDT Discovery and Innovation and will work closely with the BRANDT Discovery and Innovation Technical Agronomist Team and the BRANDT Sales Team.
Key BRANDT specialty products include but are not limited to: Micronutrients, Adjuvants, Bio Stimulants (Nutrient Use Efficiency and Stress management), Organic Crop Protectants, and Water Soluble NPK Blends.
Essential Functions
- Provide technical knowledge related to BRANDT products to customers, growers, and sales team.
- Assist BRANDT sales team with technical support.
- Lead presentations at agricultural trade meetings for distributors and customers explaining new and existing products.
- Have knowledge of key crops, pests, environmental conditions, and production practices that impact use of product line.
- Write technical pieces related to product line for company website and/or social media.
- Establish a network with independent party research groups and universities.
- Create protocols and establish trials with contract and university researchers.
- Ensure adherence to protocols through trial visits and communication with researchers.
- Manage the collection of data from trials.
- Analyze and report results from trials in the region.
- Summarize results in written reports.
- Present results at a variety of meetings with customers, growers, and the BRANDT sales team.

Work Environment
The Technical Agronomist will be required to travel around the region to visit trial locations and attend meetings. The TA may be working in the field or may be required to attend professional meetings.
Classification/Expected Hours of Employment
This position is a full-time position and is exempt from minimum wage and overtime pay requirements under federal and all applicable state or local laws. Days and hours of work are based on the needs of customers and team.
Travel
This position requires up to 40% travel within the region and some trips to corporate meeting locations.
Required Education and Experience
- CCA/PCA certification is preferred.
- Strong agriculture background in tree crops, vines and vegetables is preferred.
- MS or PhD in agricultural related field with 2 to 5 years of relevant research experience.
- Familiarity with basic aspects of product research and design, field scale product evaluations and demonstrations.
- Highly developed customer service skills with a proven ability to foster strong customer relationships.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Motivated, independent self-starter with results and solution orientation.
- Existing contacts within the dealer network would be an asset.
- Possess and maintain appropriate pesticide licenses in relevant states.
- Valid driver’s license and clean drivers record.
