Crop Progress Update with Eric Winans, PhD

BRANDT Research Farm Manager, Eric Winans (PhD), provided a crop progress update on Agribusiness Today. He advised against significantly reducing corn maturities as planting concludes and recommended increasing soybean planting populations by 5-10% to enhance competition and expedite canopy closure. Winans also highlighted concerns about stick bugs due to the mild winter. Notably, soybeans planted on March 28th have already reached the R1 growth stage and are flowering, indicating a promising outlook for this year’s soybean crop.
