Planting Begins at the BRANDT South Research Farm

April 13, 2016 the first corn seed went in the ground at the South Research Farm. With current soil temperatures and favorable long term forecast corn planting will be in full swing at the Research Farm located in Pleasant Plains, IL and throughout central IL.

A new addition to the farm this year is custom built 20-inch row planter.  This will allow us to add variables such as planter downforce and row width, which are two topics of importance in production agriculture.

Also, as the same with our old planter, we will be able to band nutrition right behind the planter.  This has shown to increase yield in corn production and has been adopted by several of our customers.

We are excited to kick off the planting season for 2016 and please monitor this blog frequently as we will be reporting regularly from the BRANDT Research Farms.

Have a safe and productive planting season.
