Sulfur Deficiency in Corn Production

Sulfur deficiency appears as yellow striping and well as an overall yellow plant color mostly in the uppder leaves

The center 8 rows is where no sulfur was applied.

There are several factors that can contribute to sulfur deficiency. Less atmospheric S deposited through power plant emissions, higher yields equal more S used and removed and less S applied as fertilizer. We are seeing more and more S deficiencies throughout the midwest as a result. At our BRANDT Research Farms we are seeing significant responses to the addition of S at-plant in the form of ATS and also using BRANDT SMART Trio with the post-applied herbicide application.
